Monthly Full Moon Ceremonies are hosted to acknowledge and honour Nookomis (Grandmother Moon), to share Women’s teachings and teachings of the current Moon, and to share in a Potluck Feast.

For this particular ceremony, women on their moon time are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Men are also welcome to attend, for their support as firekeepers and protectors of the People.  Food and cloth offerings are made to the Sacred Fire, and water is lifted.

Anyone healing or dealing with addictions can overcome their addiction by working with the 13 Moons.

Everyone is welcome to attend and support this ceremony at the Turtle Lodge.  We ask that you come for 6 pm, bring a dish to share for a Potluck Feast, yellow cloth and a tobacco offering for the ceremony.

The Vision Quest is a rite of passage conducted each spring that enables men and adolescent boys to engage in an ancient ceremony, assisting them in the transition from one life stage to the next, with purpose and meaning.

It is true that all men must be initiated by Woman to understand life’s sacredness. And so it is that a young man must seek a vision for himself and his community on a Vision Quest and be initiated by Mother Earth. Each year we make a call for young boys and men to participate in a Vision Quest to be initiated by the Earth.

The boys and men take to the land and fast for 4 days and nights while they are encouraged and watched over by the Elders.

Many years ago, direction was given to the late Grandmother Orianna Courchene to conduct the Mother Earth Lodge Ceremony as our women sought healing and balance.  

 This Ceremony is held outside, where women sit on the ground together in a Lodge, built using natural materials from Mother Earth, with the Sacred Fires burning.  

The Ceremony includes many rounds of dancing and healing, and women who wish to come and fast throughout the four day Ceremony are encouraged.

Together, as women we sing, dance, share, heal and listen to the teachings from our Grandmothers on various issues of womenhood throughout all life stages.

Sacred Bundle Ceremonies are held at Turtle Lodge Solstice and Equinox, with a Potluck Feast following each Ceremony.

On the Spring Equinox in 2021, The National Turtle Lodge Council of Elders Birthed a Sacred Bundle, following a Ceremonially-driven process.

The Sacred Bundle tells a story, carries a message of an identity; it’s a living entity carrying the voices and ways of our Ancestors.

The Bundle represents our traditional education as the First Peoples of Turtle Island, with Sacred items to teach our children about our way of life.

he Turtle Lodge offers Indigenous Knowledge Teachings which share a traditional perspective.

The workshops can be designed to accommodate the unique needs of groups, and could be made available to anyone who wants to know more about First Nations people and our perspectives. These awareness workshops are offered by traditional Knowledge Keepers who are fluent in their original languages, connected to the communities, and grounded in the ceremonial traditions of the people.

Examples of opportunities offered might include:

Increased awareness of First Nations perspectives.

Building bridges and strengthening relationships with First Nations people and communities.

Traditional First Nations teachings, which are about our relationship to each other and the land, and which inspire us to treat each other and the land in a respectful way.

The environmental crisis and indigenous knowledge that can lay a foundation for greater awareness of our connection to the sacredness of the land.
