WINTER SOLSTICE – THE GREETING OF THE NEW SUN
Turtle Lodge, Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba, Canada
Dec 20 -21, 2013, starts at 9:30 am both days.
The Turtle Lodge is initiating a gathering to focus on the voice of the Grandmothers –
Kokum Dibaadjimowinan (Grandmothers’ Teachings).
Grandmothers are being invited for this special 2-day gathering to formulate a direction we need to take in order for health and wellness to return – a direction that could help us to return to our duties and responsibilities as parents, grandparents and extended family members, to protect and support the well-being of all children.
We continue to suffer because of our disconnection from the land. As the voice of Mother Earth, it is the Grandmothers that must be in the forefront in bringing teachings, values and giving direction to help us have a relationship with the land.
The dates that have been chosen are the time of the longest night that brings the arrival of the New Sun. The Grandmothers will set the foundation for the coming year on what our efforts and initiative should be.
Invitation from the Turtle Lodge
Young girls, mothers, aunties, other Grandmothers are welcome to gather and listen to the Grandmothers at the Turtle Lodge. Men are invited to come support the Gathering by listening; keeping the sacred fire burning. Open to All.
