At the signing of the Winnipeg Indigenous Accord on June 20th, 2017 at The Forks, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Elder Dave Courchene (Nii Gaani Aki Inini – Leading Earth Man) closed the historic signing with a prayer and a call to action:
“Today I challenge all those who have signed on to the Accord, to come back in one year and reflect on how much has changed in terms of creating and recognizing a full and equal partnership with the First Peoples.”
